Ah, an idea just popped up here. How about an aggregated blog for this iPod development? You can put all the blogs in there, so all the information will be gathered and up to date. New users, potential users, can visit the page, read about the ideas and know what it's all about...

Thanks for pointing out, whoever you are, that it was possible to use HTML in the name, url and e-mail fields. It screwed up the page a lot, so I disabled it.

Adam Curry talks in his latest Source Code about having an on line place somewhere, to gather information about the iPod platform. Because enough people are doing programming work already, and I want to help thinking about, organising and creating this new platform where possible, I'll try to give some feedback here.

Adam suggests a page on SourceForge.net, which seems like a good idea because many projects are succesfully hosted there. I'm not very familiar with doing things on SF.net myself, though, so I'll think into other directions. Other ideas  may be:
  • a group blog. Lots of weblog software supports multiple authors, so if you give every developer or anyone who wants to help thinking out ideas or details an account, you can post everything to that one weblog.
  • a wiki. Pages that are editable by just everyone. It's very open, people can add information or ideas anywhere. I'm not sure if Wiki's have file storage, though, but it's always possible to arrange that apart from the Wiki.
  • a discussion forum. When you install a forum somewhere, you can have multiple subforums. You can restrict access to one or some of them, so you can privately discuss some details if you like, and you can create subforums for a general discussion, for feedback on the software (you can create a subforum for each version of the iPodder), or for user support. I use discussion forums very much to communicatie with people I work with online (I have been doing that for years now), and it works like a charm.
These three options I thought of while listening to Adam's audio post. When I think of more, I will post them. I hope this helps.
