HP MySQL hacked?

What's this? I'm reading Jeremy's book at the moment, and was interested in some extra information, so I decided to pay the blog a visit. But it seems it's not there anymore.

There are some archives, though, but where did the front page go? The site's not hacked, is it?

Weblogs.com history

I like Weblogs.com. It's a nice place to discover new stuff. It's just so.. ugly. There's no decent markup. No styling at all. I often wonder why that's the case, knowing that it actually doesn't really matter. But still..

Anyway, the 2000 screenshot makes me curious. What did all the buttons and checkboxes do? Do they just store information in a cookie or something, or was there more like that?
