It doesn't really have anything to do with tech or web development, but because screenwriting is one of my other fields of interest, I have been following the WGA strike very closely.
In short, American writers of television shows and film are fighting for a better contract. One that includes residuals for internet-streamed broadcasts of shows and a larger piece of the pie concerning DVD sales. There's a Youtube video which explains it in full.
Writers, supported by actors and fans, are picketing in Los Angeles and New York and blogging about it. If you're interested, read some of it.
