Living Offline

That's strange. My internet connection just quit. Bam, out of order. I don't know what happened. My IRC got disconnected all of a sudden, that's how I knew.

I checked my connection using ping and traceroute, but none of them would get signals in or out of my local network, so it must be something else. Tried rebooting my router, but now it's still waiting for a DHCP offer from my ISP. That's strange.

My cable modem says it's connected to my local network, so it's not a UTP cable error somewhere. Only, the LED's which tell there's network traffic aren't doing anything.

I don't have a working internet connection. That's a strange idea. Not being able to look up something. Not being able to read blogs or news. And more annoying: not being able to do my work, for that requires an internet connection.

It has its advantages, though. I'm cleaning up my house now, something I should have done before.

That's it, I'm done cleaning. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City on the PS2 is my dearest friend now.

Okay, my ISP is doing some good work. I called their service phone number, and after choosing some menu options, I got the message that there's a problem in my region. They're working on the problem, the voice said. That's all I needed to know.

You know, it helps you accepting a problem when you know what it is. That works for having a disease, but also for this kind of thing. Now that I know my ISP knows what's happening, I'm content, and will be patiently waiting.

My IRC gives the "Attemting to rejoin.." message, which means I'm online again. Good. Let's get some work done.
